Franchise Opportunities

Author: Ross Bainbridge

For those who want to start their own business immediately, either to invest idle cash or just fulfill a lifelong dream, getting a franchise may be an excellent option. Almost all industries offer a myriad of franchise opportunities. This is just a sample list of industries you may want to get into: advertising and promotions; automotives; building and renovations; business services; business to business; computer-related ventures; crafts and wares; distributorship and dealerships; education and training; financial services; food and hospitality; food outlets and restaurants; hiring services of formal wear; health, lifestyle, and personal care; home wares and home decors; staffing for household services; information technology and telecoms; landscaping and garden services; leisure and entertainment; mobile services; music-related services; real estate; retail of clothing, food, beverage, and household goods; safety and security; and vending.

Check out the websites of any company to see if it offers franchising opportunities. You may request a corporate presentation to explain the nature and the current strategies as well as the growth plans of the business. On your own, research which kind of product and services your community needs to ensure that you can actually replicate the success of the business in your area. It will help if you go into an industry you know the ins and outs of, and actually like. For example, if you like cooking, you may want to go into a retail food business. But you do not need to be an expert entrepreneur to qualify for a franchise.

The strategic plans for marketing and sales, business growth, and expansion are handled by the corporate headquarters. Franchisors are only required to put up the capital, take care of the operational costs and pay a franchise fee. More than being entrepreneurial, franchisors need to be good business managers to ensure that the store is earning profits.
