Breast Anatomy

Author: Kim Shire

Breasts are made up of Fatty Tissue, Milk Glands, and Milk Ducts (carries the milk from the gland to the Nipple). Breasts do not have any muscle tissue. Breast shape is determined by the amount of Fatty Tissue it contains.

The raised circle of darker skin that surrounds the nipple is called the areola. The areola also contains Montgomery's glands, which may appear as small, raised lumps on the surface of the areola. These glands lubricate the areola. The nipple and areola have specialized muscle fibers that make the nipple firm, and can make the nipple erect.

Breast, Areolas, and Nipples come in all shapes, sizes, and colors. Some girls nipples are always erect; some girl's nipples get hard and stick out when they're cold, or when they're aroused. Some girls have inverted nipples; inverted nipples stick inward instead of outward.

Society has taught us what perfect breast should look like. Girls often feel that their breasts are the wrong size, shape, or color. The simple fact is that normal breast often looks different from what society shows us. No mater what, your breast are a beautiful part of who you are.
