The United States federal government is having quite a difficulty as superstars retire from large government agencies. Many times these retired government workers are needed so bad that the end up starting private professional consulting businesses and contracting with the government to do what the government is unable to do in their absence. There are many reasons for this and one of the biggest reasons is that there is no one trained to take their position and the training takes too long and the government has projects they are working on that they must complete now. If there is a long training period in a government job to fulfill a position many government workers choose not to do this and look for a similar paying job somewhere else in the agency without the ongoing educational requirements or a large learning curve. It is human nature to want to work less and get more and many government workers who are inherently lazy anyway do not choose to work harder to learn a new skill. That skill however is needed and must be fulfilled. The government has no choice but to higher retired Government super Star workers and a contracting capacity. If the government was truly smart they would allow people who work in government to work past the age of 60 since people are living longer anyway. This trend of retired government workers turning consultant is in fact becoming very popular. Please consider all this in 2006. |
