Two Meanings behind the Term: "The World is Yours"

Author: Vicheka Lay

The world is yours, the doctrine that opens the gate for all human persons to unlimited growth; gorgeous in hearing and compelling in practicality. However, if the world is truly yours, why should the world of mine is different to the world of yours? The scope of this article is to explore the two [philosophical] meanings of the term: The World is Yours.

I. First Meaning:

In its first meaning, the world is yours means that it is absolutely yours. And because it is absolutely yours, the world is just like a piece of dirt on your shirt; nothing that you should value, care about or respect. Because the world is yours, it may not be necessary to make use of it: it is just so-called nothingness. In the nutshell, the first meaning of the term: the world is yours means that you do not need to do anything in this world; sleep when you are sleepy, have sex whenever you want, indulge yourself in any activity whenever you fell about or even throw in out of your window. The second meaning is genuinely contrasted to the precedent.

II. Second Meaning:

In its second meaning, again, the world is yours means that it is absolutely yours. And because the world is absolutely yours, you must make use of its as much as possible, endeavor your utmost to better it, struggle to preserve it, venture to totally be comprehensive of it, sacrifice individualism for it, preserve your identity in it and finally die for it.

Why, up to today, the gap between the rich and the poor, the educated and the low-educated is still unexplainable? The above two meanings of the term: the world is yours might be the most logical answer to it.

The purpose of this article is to mentally revoke those thinking of or preparing to be the comprehensive member of this world society.
